ABILITY GROUP Saves Client $160,000 – The prognosis involved surgery and a lengthy process back to work as well as rehabilitation and strengthening of the knee, etc. Upon our investigation and further review by our specialists it was identified that the injured worker had pre-existing history as well as a presentation of poor health. Further investigation was undertaken to establish that work was not the main contributing factor to the injury. Light duties were provided the entire time to ensure the employee was engaged and supported while the information was being collected. The claim was finalised without any liability for the surgery and ongoing issues to the injury.
Upon the possibility of the liability being accepted and potential of lack of information being investigated this claim could have easily been accepted and whilst the focus is always return to work the question around liability still needs to be asked and determined. The impact of the claim being completely accepted could have had a $160,000 impact to the workers compensation premium over 2 years.
