General questions

A clear place to start.

Learn how ABILITY GROUP works with employers and how to find the right support.

What does ABILITY GROUP do?

We provide employer-side support across workers compensation, workplace safety, injury management, return to work, rehabilitation, allied health, specialist consulting and outsourcing. We can start with one concern or look at connected issues across your business.

Which organisations do you work with?

We work with employers in a range of industries and of different sizes. The starting point is your workforce, operations, locations and the problem you want to solve.

Can you support employers across Australia?

Yes. We support employers operating across Australia. Workers compensation and safety requirements differ by jurisdiction, so tell us where your people work and which schemes apply.

How do I choose the right service?

Tell us whether the main concern is costs and claims, workplace risks, an injury and return to work, clinical support, specialist advice or extra team capacity. We can help identify a practical starting point and agree a scope.

Can you help with one issue rather than a whole program?

Yes. You can ask for help with a single claim, premium question, risk review or return-to-work issue. Wider support can be discussed if the initial review shows a need for it.

Can you work alongside our existing team and advisers?

Yes. We can agree responsibilities with your HR, WHS, finance and injury management teams and coordinate with insurers, agents, clinicians or other providers where appropriate.

Are you an insurer or a claims agent?

No. ABILITY GROUP provides employer-side advice and support. Insurers and scheme agents retain their own decision-making and statutory roles.

What happens in the first conversation?

We ask about your organisation, locations, priorities and the information already available. We then discuss a sensible next step, the people who should be involved and any proposed scope of work.

What does the complimentary business review cover?

It begins with your priorities and may consider workers compensation, claims, return to work, WHS and related systems. The purpose is to identify areas for closer review and discuss relevant recommendations.

What information should we prepare?

A short outline of the issue and your locations is enough to start. If relevant, you may also have premium notices, policy information, claim summaries, incident trends or current processes available for a later review.

How are scope, timing and fees agreed?

They depend on the work required. We discuss the proposed deliverables, responsibilities, timeframe and fees before a paid engagement begins.

Should we send personal or medical information in an enquiry?

Please keep an initial enquiry to business contact details and a brief description of the issue. Do not include an injured worker’s name, medical information or claim documents in the first message. We can discuss an appropriate way to share information if needed.

Service area 01

Workers Compensation

Questions about premiums, policies, claims and program oversight.

Explore Workers Compensation
Where should we start if premiums are rising?

Bring together current and previous premium notices, policy details and available claims information. We can review the main cost drivers and identify questions that warrant closer investigation.

Can you review our workers compensation policy before renewal?

Yes. We can review policy information, wage declarations, classifications and claim experience, then discuss matters to clarify before renewal. The available actions depend on the relevant scheme and your circumstances.

Can you help with a wage audit or classification question?

We can review the information behind a wage or classification issue and help prepare an evidence-based response. Any formal review or appeal must follow the process and deadlines of the applicable scheme.

Can you assist with a single difficult claim?

Yes. We can examine the issues from the employer’s perspective, clarify next actions and help coordinate communication with the insurer, worker and other relevant parties.

What is a workers compensation program review?

It looks across policy, premiums, claims, reporting, return to work and internal responsibilities. The result is a set of priorities suited to your organisation rather than a standard checklist.

Can you help if we operate in more than one state?

Yes. We can map the jurisdictions and arrangements involved, identify differences that matter to your business and help coordinate a consistent internal approach while respecting each scheme’s rules.

Service area 02

Work Health & Safety (WHS)

Questions about hazards, controls, systems and psychosocial risk.

Explore Work Health & Safety (WHS)
What does WHS consulting involve?

We discuss your operations and risks, review relevant information and agree practical work such as a risk review, systems assessment, action plan or support with implementation.

Can you assess a specific workplace risk?

Yes. A focused assessment can examine the task or setting, existing controls and further measures to consider. The method and people involved depend on the hazard and workplace.

Can you review our WHS systems and procedures?

Yes. We can review policies, reporting, responsibilities, records and follow-up processes to identify gaps and prioritise improvements.

Do you help with psychosocial hazards?

Yes. We can help identify work-related psychosocial hazards, review existing controls and support a practical plan for consultation, action and review. Sensitive matters need an approach suited to the people and circumstances involved.

Can you help after an incident or near miss?

We can help review what happened, the available information and the actions needed to reduce recurrence. Your organisation should continue to follow any immediate response and notification duties that apply.

Service area 03

Injury Management & Return to Work

Questions about recovery at work, suitable duties and coordination.

Explore Injury Management & Return to Work
When should we ask for injury management help?

You can ask early in a claim or when recovery or work participation has stalled. We first clarify the medical capacity information, workplace options, communication and the roles of the people involved.

Can you help identify suitable duties?

Yes. We can work with the employer to examine available tasks against current medical capacity and workplace requirements, then help document and review a suitable duties plan.

Can you support a psychological injury return to work?

Yes. These matters need careful communication, appropriate clinical input and a plan that respects current capacity and the workplace context. We can help coordinate the employer-side actions.

What if a return-to-work plan is not progressing?

We can review the barriers, information gaps, duties, communication and milestones, then discuss a revised practical approach with the relevant parties.

Can you work with the insurer and treating providers?

Where appropriate, yes. We can help the employer coordinate information and actions with the insurer, treating providers and rehabilitation specialists, subject to roles, consent and the applicable scheme.

Allied Health & Wellbeing

Questions about rehabilitation, assessments and workplace health support.

Explore Allied Health & Wellbeing
What allied health support is available?

The ABILITY GROUP service area connects workplace rehabilitation, functional and worksite assessments and related health and wellbeing support. We can discuss the need and direct you to the appropriate specialist service.

What is a workplace rehabilitation service?

It supports a safe, sustainable work outcome by bringing together capacity information, job demands, suitable work options and communication with the relevant parties. The exact service is agreed for the individual situation.

What is a functional assessment?

It examines a person’s functional abilities in relation to a defined question or work demand. The assessment type and conclusions depend on the referral purpose and available information.

Can you assess a worksite or job demands?

Yes. A worksite assessment can look at tasks, physical or other demands and possible adjustments to inform planning. It is scoped to the role, workplace and question being asked.

Can allied health support an employer’s return-to-work plan?

Yes. Appropriate clinical and workplace assessment input can help the employer understand capacity and suitable work options, alongside the treating team and insurer where relevant.

Service area 05

Specialist Consulting

Questions about focused employer-side advice and complex issues.

Explore Specialist Consulting
When is specialist consulting useful?

It can help when a premium, claim, program or workplace issue needs focused technical review, an independent employer-side perspective or a plan that spans several functions.

What is the WCS by ABILITY GROUP pathway?

Workers Compensation Solutions (WCS) provides focused employer-side workers compensation consulting within the wider ABILITY GROUP network. We can help direct your question to the right specialist.

Can you review a premium or wage classification dispute?

We can review the background and supporting records, identify the relevant questions and help plan an evidence-based response. Any formal process depends on the scheme and its timeframes.

Can consulting cover claims and workplace safety together?

Yes. We can look at connected claims, injury management and WHS issues and agree a scope that addresses the relationships between them.

Do you offer a one-off review or ongoing advice?

Both can be discussed. A defined review may be the right starting point; ongoing support can be agreed when your organisation needs continuing specialist input.

Service area 06

Outsourcing & Interim Support

Questions about ongoing delivery, program management and temporary cover.

Explore Outsourcing & Interim Support
What can be outsourced to ABILITY GROUP?

Depending on the agreed scope, we can provide return-to-work coordination, employer-side claims oversight, workers compensation program management or interim specialist capacity.

How does return-to-work outsourcing work?

We agree responsibilities, reporting and communication with your team, then provide ongoing coordination of suitable duties, recovery-at-work actions and relevant parties.

Can you provide ongoing claims management support?

Yes. We can help your team maintain employer-side oversight, follow-up and coordination across a defined claim portfolio or set of priorities.

What is workers compensation program management?

It brings policy, premiums, claims, reporting and return to work into a coordinated program with agreed responsibilities and regular review.

Can you cover a team member’s leave or a vacancy?

Yes. Interim specialist cover can help maintain essential workers compensation or return-to-work work while a key person is away or a role is being filled.

Will the work fit our current systems and team?

We agree the scope, handovers, access, reporting and decision points with you before work starts, so the support fits your operating arrangements.

ENABLE>SYSTEMS & ENABLE>WHS

Questions about connected workplace records and follow-up actions.

Explore ENABLE>SYSTEMS & ENABLE>WHS
What is ENABLE>SYSTEMS?

It is a modular cloud-based platform by AMPLEXUS SOLUTIONS for connected business processes and information. We can help you explore the modules relevant to your organisation.

What does ENABLE>WHS support?

The WHS module supports records and workflows for hazards, incidents, injuries, claims and actions, helping teams see what has been reported and what needs follow-up.

Does the system replace our safety and injury management responsibilities?

No. Software supports recording, coordination and reporting. Your organisation still needs suitable people, processes and decisions for its workplace and obligations.

Can we explore a particular module first?

Yes. The platform is modular, so a discussion can start with the area you need to improve and the systems you already use.
