A NSW Parliamentary review of Workers Compensation Scheme has been released providing recommendations to improve the NSW scheme. The report revealed the scheme is $1.87B in surplus, claims have reduced materially (110,000 in 2011/12 to 60,000 in 2015/16).

NSW Workers Compensation Scheme Review – The Parliamentary review report has concluded with a number of recommendations to improve the NSW workers compensation scheme, including:

  • Simplified notices so claimants can more easily understand
  • The use of surveillance be better regulated with guidelines on acceptable conduct
  • Claims managers to be required to have a minimum level of training and qualifications
  • A “one stop shop” to handle all workers compensation disputes

The report has provide valuable insights for the evolution of the NSW workers compensation scheme and we are remain optimistic of the way forward.
