Compliance Monitoring Audits conducted by Fair Work Ombudsman in NSW, Victoria & Queensland has recovered more than $580,000 in unpaid wages following a number of audits that uncovered employer’s non-compliance with Australia’s workplace laws.
FWO Compliance Monitoring Audits – Around 1,385 businesses in VIC, NSW and QLD were audited and the Inspectors found:
- 22% did not pay their employees correctly
- 15% did not provide employees with proper payslips or kept proper employment records and
- 6% failed to meet their non-monetary obligations and pay their employees correctly
An average of about $600 per underpaid employee was recovered by the FWO. The Fair Work Ombudsman will revisit these businesses as well as target more companies across Australia as part of very strict compliance monitoring programs to be implemented.
