Mental Health and Psychological Claims
The increasing trend of psychological claims is a growing concern and more so given on average such claims can on average be 7 times more costly than physical claims. Businesses are consequently needing to consider both the physical and mental safety of their workers. For further information, please refer to Workplace Prevention of Mental Health Problems guidelines issued by the Institute for Safety, Compensation and Recovery Research (ISCRR).
The ISCRR guidelines consist of actions organisations can take to prevent common mental health problems in the workplace. It is hoped that they will be used to improve the practices of organisations as they work to reduce the risk of job stress and mental health problems in the workplace. The guidelines are intended to complement existing legislative requirements for occupational health and safety and the prevention and management of discrimination and harassment.
