Employers who are currently eligible under the Authorised Provider (AP) model will have the ability to nominate Allianz, EML, GIO or QBE as their claims agent for the lodgment of new claims only. Since the rollout of the Authorised Provider model in 2020, for any employer who has changed claims service provider, their existing claims have remained with the previous provider for management.

After constant feedback from employers and brokers, icare is looking at the possibility of transferring claims from one claims service provider to another, when an insured business changes provider.

This means that all claims for the insured would be consolidated with a single claims service provider.

icare has announced that a pilot transfer will come into place this month, transitioning a small portfolio of open and closed claims between claims service providers to test this capability.

icare and the claims service providers have designed a system model to support injured workers and employers, whilst taking all necessary steps to ensure that the process does not have a negative impact on injured workers’ return to work journey.

The results of the pilot will determine its viability for future transfers.
