To help prevent hearing loss in the workplace, employers must provide hearing tests to workers who frequently use hearing protection to control noise that exceeds the exposure standard.
We’re sharing vital updates on hearing test requirements for New South Wales (NSW) workers. Starting January 1, 2024, Audiometric testing under Clause 58 of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulation 2017 will come into effect.
If your business exposes workers to noise levels above the standard, it’s crucial to provide hearing tests. The responsibility falls on the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). New employees must complete a baseline hearing test within three months, followed by monitoring tests every two years. More frequent tests may be needed for those exposed to high noise levels.
Ensure your business complies with these regulations by January 1, 2024, for a safer, healthier work environment. For more information, visit the official website or consult with relevant authorities. Prioritize your employees’ hearing health for a safer and more productive workplace.
