Significant changes have been made to workers compensation during the last 12-18 months and WorkCover NSW recently released their report card promoting the resulting positive impacts. NSW reforms were designed to make workplaces safer, premiums fairer, affordable and easier to understand. With less claims, improved Return to Work rates, less red tape are a few of the results.
The old Workers Compensation Scheme was failing many NSW businesses. It was difficult to follow, time consuming to renew and often came with unexpected premium increases that added uncertainty and stress. In 2012, ideas were explored for ways to improve the system, starting with reforms for the small employers of NSW.

Earlier today WorkCover NSW announced 2015 Scheme Agent Deed and changes associated with the submissions made earlier this year by existing and new insurers/agents for NSW Workers Compensation licences.
Effective from 1 January 2015, there will only be 5 NSW Scheme Agents (reduced from 7 currently operating) with resulting changes to impact a significant number of NSW businesses.
We believe it is important that brokers/advisers/businesses understand what the changes announced today mean. See which insurers will exit the NSW Workers Compensation scheme and learn about the 2015 Scheme Agent Deed.

Workers' compensation insurance is a critical safeguard for both employers and employees. It ensures that workplace injuries are covered, medical expenses are managed, and businesses remain compliant with legal requirements. Choosing the right insurer, however, can feel overwhelming. This guide breaks down the essential factors to consider so you can make an informed decision.
ABILITY GROUP specialise in supporting businesses of all sizes across industries and therefore has interactions with all key insurers/agents. Despite workers' compensation being regulated insurance, not all workers' compensation insurers are the same. ABILITY GROUP assist businesses in selecting the insurer best suited to their needs, circumstances and often secures additional valuable benefits.
Meeting legislative Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements with paper-based systems can be time-consuming and inefficient. Smart businesses look for ways to simplify safety management and reduce administrative effort. At ABILITY GROUP, we believe time should be spent constructively improving workplace safety, not wasted on manual processes. An online WHS system with integrated reminders streamlines compliance and allows businesses to focus on core activities.
