SIRA has launched a new mental health support line called Hear2Talk in NSW. Hear2Talk is a 12-month pilot to increase support and provide a safe space for individuals experiencing a mental health concern within the community.

Hear2Talk is managed by the community of mental health and the team at Hear2Talk are experienced peers who each have lived through mental health concerns. They will understand and be able to better support those individuals who are experiencing these concerns for the first time or if it’s ongoing.

The callers are trained to provide the full support the individual would need in order to help the individual and the wider community of NSW. “The callers using the service can expect confidential, accessible and tailored phone-based support to listen and help build resilience and confidence in managing challenging experiences and emotions.”

Research shows that ‘peer-operated’ services are critical to the process of recovery and result in an increase in primary care visits to primary care doctors, leisure and recreation activities and socialisation with others.

To access the helpline, call 1300 428 255. Which operates from Monday to Friday 12pm – 8pm.
