iCare’s data shows that between 2018 and 2020:

  • icare received 3,350 workers compensation claims for employees injured while driving a vehicle at work
  • 73 per cent of claims led to the injured worker needing time off work, with an average of 68 days off per claim
  • 63 workers compensation claims resulted from a fatality
  • 26 per cent of the NSW road toll is people who drive for work.

Road safety is a shared responsibility between employers and workers and it is critical that both parties are well aware and understand the road safety measures. The statistics above demonstrates that implementing the program is very beneficial for both the employer and the worker especially for workers that require a lot of travelling for work.
