There is no doubt that 2021 was a challenging year for most people and businesses alike. COVID-19 inflicted an unprecedented economic collapse causing millions of Australians to face unemployment which in turn resulted in a significant increase in the number of individuals presenting with mental health concerns.

The pandemic has heightened workplace mental health concerns, forcing companies to adapt business models, with employees working remotely, reduced hours, or under pressure in essential roles.

A survey found 20% of operators face mental health concerns from COVID challenges, with lockdowns and rule changes making it hard for small businesses to adapt. SafeWork’s Mentally Healthy Workplace ambassadors shared experiences and responses, while the NSW Government is promoting workplace mental health programs to support small and medium businesses.
