SIRA has recently announced a newly designed plan to improve poor return to work performance in the NSW workers compensation scheme. Return to work rates have progressively declined since 2015, with the number of workers unfit for work increasing exponentially.

There is no doubt that 2021 was a challenging year for most people and businesses alike. COVID-19 inflicted an unprecedented economic collapse causing millions of Australians to face unemployment which in turn resulted in a significant increase in the number of individuals presenting with mental health concerns.

Employers who are currently eligible under the Authorised Provider (AP) model will have the ability to nominate Allianz, EML, GIO or QBE as their claims agent for the lodgment of new claims only. Since the rollout of the Authorised Provider model in 2020, for any employer who has changed claims service provider, their existing claims have remained with the previous provider for management.
